In Paradise
Lived a pair of cooing birds
Whom a serpent eyed with envy.
All three nestled in the
Same groove,
So that pity entered their lives.
The snake being of another type
Could not coo with a bird.
So he grieved.
The birds, though paired
Could not coo
In view of the snake’s green eyes.
The birds being birds
Knew not how to kill a serpent
Who made them wait.
Happiness regained
In a compromise
Where love ignored the gaze.
I would give this one a high 8 out of 10. Sorry, 9 and 10 out of 10 are reserved for only me. Vain men rarely appreciate others' poetry. But all the same, what was the serpent making the birds wait for? Was he was gate security in a pub? Did they want ta go to the loo and only he had the keys? (Just askin')
