The Unknown

Fear death?
Strange waters
Measureless depths
Craggy hills
Endless snow
Wireless signals
Exposed wires
Unsheathed knives
Polluted beds

Fear of death
Permeates every breath
Day in
Day out
Known to man
For millions of years.

Whoever thought
Our experiments
With life
Would play havoc
With our system?

It was unknown
It was uncontrolled.

It was not in the least
Death.

It was torture
Of waiting
Of contaminating
Of rubbing and scrubbing
The unseen
The untold
And the unnerving
Sickness.
