Never underestimate
A new disease;
Respect it.
Throughout history
Infectious germs
Have been our constant buddies.
Plague, measles, cholera,
Yellow fever, ebola,
Small pox, swine flu,
The more civilized were you
The more housemates you grew –
Bats, chimps, pigs, camels
And no less mosquitoes…
There is no measure
Of the death toll
All round the globe.
No one is invincible;
The mortal flaw as it were
Coz none on earth who breathes
The struggle for survival foregoes.
